our story
The CASR was founded in 2015 to warn against the dangers of normalising relationships with machines and reinforcing female dehumananisation. The ideas for the campaign were outlined in the paper ‘The asymmetrical relationship: parallels between prostitution and the development of sex robots’ published in ACM SIGCAS. Our first campaign image featured a broken mannequin and represents dissociation from relationship and the instrumentality of women’s bodies, reduced to parts. The campaign has received international attention and will continue to defend the dignity and humanity of women and girls.
